Robert Cray - All Over Again [PRE-ORDER]

Over a legendary career spanning five decades, five-time Grammy winner and Blues Hall of Famer Robert Cray returns with All Over Again, a powerful new album that pushes his foundational blend of American roots, soul, blues and R&B into deep soul territory.

All Over Again brings Cray back together with legendary drummer and producer Steve Jordan. "Once you start working with Steve, it’s kind of hard to get away from somebody that you have such a great rapport with in the studio… And this time Steve plays drums on all tracks," said Robert. "Robert is just a great person besides being an extraordinary talent," adds Jordan. "People gravitate to his guitar playing first, but I think he’s one of the best singers I’ve heard in my life. Not only because of his singing ability, but his interpretations. He’s such an honest soul in my opinion.”

To capture the project's raw, soulful magic, the duo tracked a powerful mix of five originals—which Cray describes as “today's blues”—and curated covers live at the historic FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Among the tracks are soulful renditions of classics by Wilson Pickett, Bobby Womack, and Jimmy Hughes. "It’s such a historic studio," continues Cray. "Just looking at album covers by Aretha, Etta James, Wilson Pickett, and Otis Redding producing Arthur Conley, was incredible. We also were lucky to have Spooner Oldham playing keyboard with us—a veteran of the studio—as well as Clayton Ivey."

The room's grand history ignited a deep creative spark. “It was extremely inspiring to be there in the building," Cray notes. "You could almost feel the presence of those that had recorded there.”

Hand-crafted by an unbeatable musical partnership, All Over Again stands as a master class in rich, timeless southern soul.
